FREEZONE - BIOGRAPHY

FreeZone were formed in early 1993 by Simon Dust (lead vocals/bass guitar) and Pete Murray (lead guitar) whose last band "Sudden Impact" had recently split due to musical differences.

Simon and Pete carried on as a duo as they had so much material and decided to go into the studio and record a three track demo with session drummer Pat. The success of this demo prompted Simon into forming a new band.

After many meetings and rehearsals, two new members were recruited, Liam on bass and Roland (a drum machine) took Pats place as he couldn't commit to the band due to his session work. After a further three songs were written, Roland resigned and Keith Pavett was drafted in after he answered an advertisement. Another six months of rehearsals went by, it was agreed another dimension in sound and music was needed.

After a successful audition, Glenn Webster joined the band as the keyboard player. Three months of rehearsing brought Glenn up to speed and the band were ready to go into the studio to record their first album.

The album was recorded, engineered and produced by Charlie at the Regent/Cazimi Studios in Leytonstone early December 1993 which took approximately two weeks to complete. Sadly once Liam had recorded his bass tracks, he decided to leave the band. Despite the setback the album was completed and the search began for a new bass player.

Glenn approached his neighbour Steve Jacob (who had recently moved into the area) about the vacancy. They met up at a Christmas party and got onto the subject of music and Freezone. Steve played bass to a high standard and was invited to the next rehearsal.

After getting on so well with the rest of the band and a great audition, Steve became the new bass player and the fifth member of FreeZone.

In an action packed start to 1994, FreeZone started to promote their album called "FreeZone" involved in a crazy promotional photo shoot, designed and distributed T-shirts, performed and interviewed on "Preview" and filmed a promo music video for one of the songs from the album called "Plastic"

The band are working hard in rehearsals preparing for gigs and have started to write new material for their second album.                     Glenn Webster
